A Leicestershire church is counting the cost of the earthquake after serious cracks appeared in the steeple.
Authorities at St Mary Magdalene in Waltham on the Wolds said the 30ft (9.09m) cracks were caused by Wednesday morning's tremors.
The 13th century church and its grounds have been closed off while attempts are made to secure the stone structure.
Activities, including a special Mother's Day service, have been moved for the foreseeable future.
Debris, discovered by bell ringers on Thursday morning, had fallen into the church and damaged some of the bells.
Reverend Beverley Stark admitted the incident had created a headache.
"We have rung the insurance company and are looking to put up some temporary scaffolding to hold the steeple up.
"We then have to assess the damage and I imagine it is going to cost a lot of money to repair the steeple."
One person was injured in the earthquake which was centred on Market Rasen in Lincolnshire.
